Foundation of Therapy

THE BIBLE

Christian Therapy (biblical encouragement counseling) grants us the freedom to use prayer and scripture and to talk about God.

“It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4

TEMPERAMENT

Expectations

Consultation: An initial, no-obligation phone call to explore where you are and what you are seeking help with. If agreed, that our services are a good fit, we will proceed with scheduling your first session.

Onboarding: Once scheduled, you will be invited to the therapy Client Portal via email. The sign-up process takes less than one minute to complete. You will have documents (Counseling Ministry Waiver, Counseling Disclosure and Acknowledgement and Administrative Policies) to review and electronically sign before your first session. We will send your intake paperwork through the Client Portal upon receipt of the electronically signed documents. Client Portal access allows you to enter/save/edit payment information, make payments and directly communicate with your therapist through the secure, HIPAA compliant email feature.

First Session/Intake: We will begin the exploration of your God-given, inborn temperament. This exploration is valuable because it will help you discover the strengths you may develop as well as the weaknesses you may resist. It will also reveal unmet needs that can cause stress and conflict in your life and your relationships with others. It is difficult to consider possible weaknesses in our lives, but if we are open to change, understanding our weaknesses can help us resolve conflicts and improve our relationships. The nature of your temperament can hold the key to helping you find Godly solutions to your problems.

What is temperament?

It is the inborn (not genetic, i.e. brown hair, blue eyes, etc.) part of us that determines how we react to people, places and things. In short, it is how people interact with their environments and the world around them. Temperament pinpoints our perception of ourselves and the people who love us. It is also the determining factor in how well we handle the stresses and pressures of life. Temperament can best be defined as Spiritual genetics or God's imprint upon each one of us. Three are involved in the conception of a child, the mother, the father and the Creator.

What sets TemperedFit: Therapy apart from any other counseling/therapy option?

We start by studying your temperament. Helping you to understand the deepest part of your being, we then go beyond the exploration of emotions to deal with issues from your core. You are a uniquely created individual. That means your relationships, your life (your stuff) are all unique and cannot be duplicated. We recognize that truth and honor your uniqueness by providing "boilerplate free" care. We will incorporate your faith and spirituality according to your desire and comfort level.

I do not live in Tennessee. Can you do online therapy with me?

Absolutely. Dr. Butler is nationally licensed by the Federal Association of Christian Counselors and Therapists and the National Christian Counselors Association. This means she is free to work with residents of any state.

Do I have to be a Christian or attend a certain church or denomination to receive help?

You are not required to be a Christian or to attend a certain church or denomination to receive the help you need.
